Building a Peaceful Telangana Through the Discipline of Sport

A scientific institute dedicated to building endurance across all 33 districts in building a fitter Telangana.

Vision

To make Telangana the fittest state in India, by building endurance in 33 districts, preventing the rising trend of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, heart attacks and other lifestyle diseases.

Mission

Telangana Runners exists to prevent lifestyle disease before it starts. We believe endurance, not medicine, is the first line of defense against the diseases reshaping India’s health. Through advocacy, research, structured training, and community events, we are building a discipline of sport into the daily life of every district in Telangana, one runner, one village, one town at a time.

Our Founder

Founded by a Cardiac Rehab Physician

Dr Muralidar Babi, MBBS, MD (CMC Vellore), Cardiac Rehab Physician, is the founder of Telangana Runners. He also founded a physician supervised cardiac rehab centre in Hyderabad, which helps heart attack survivors and heart failure patients rebuild their endurance and return to recreational sport.

Working closely with survivors through primary and secondary prevention, he saw the same truth again and again, endurance is what stands between a person and a heart attack, whether it has already happened once or not at all. That conviction became a statewide mission. Telangana Runners exists to build that same endurance across all 33 districts of Telangana.

Five Pillars

How we build endurance into everyday life

Advocacy

We work to make endurance a public priority, partnering with communities, institutions, and government to place fitness at the center of public health conversations.

Sports Research and Innovations

We study what actually works. From training methodology to technology, we build and test better ways to help people build endurance safely and sustainably, treating running not as a trend but as a science.

Workshops

We bring education grounded in evidence directly to communities, schools, and workplaces, teaching the physiology of endurance and the discipline it takes to build it.

Training

Structured, accessible programs that meet people where they are, whether a first time walker or a seasoned runner, building endurance step by step.

Events

Community runs across Telangana that turn training into shared experience, culture, and celebration, including our Sunday Morning Run (SMR), flagship Cardiac Rehab Run, and the statewide Telangana Marathon.
